Weekend Supplement!!

Time to do a bit of proper blogging! Saying just like the old days makes me feel old but yes "Just like the old days!"
You may not even know this but as Wilko News we have been here since time immemorial and yes in hard copy.
Wait for this, youngest son was at Disneyland, Paris and eldest son was in the RAF!!
WOW!!

Wilko News was a monthly hard copy newsletter to keep everybody in the family in touch with the goings on of the others and yes it did have a wonderful full colour calendar free, every month!!

Ok what shall we do in the here and now then as Facebook has taken most of the communication problems away? As well as creating a few, I might add!!

I think a weekly update with quotes, maybe little vids and mainly other people's pics from the world wide webby thing, along with some quirkiness (but of course!) and links to navigate around the world outside our very own little bubble!!

There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that's your own self.
Aldous Huxley

Two related, we'll call them 'work quirks' which I want to tell you about.... First, the swallow, the bird as opposed to anything else!!

The swallow battles all the elements and flies over 2 thousand miles with its family to return to a nest it may have made up to four years ago, halfway across a continent, a truly wonderful story of true courage in the bird world and hats off to all swallows for doing that!!
However after this incredible journey, how is it that each and every one of them then struggle to fly in a straight line down a 6 foot wide corridor without having a close encounter with a human being!!
The second is to do with the humans that I work around!! These are the cleverest men and women in the entire world they cure sick animals, rebuild animals that have been injured, all have letters after their name, are Doctors and professors of everything - animal connected - work to cure diseases in zoo animals, speak around the world on subjects that you and I have never heard of and did I mention can't tell plastic from paper or glass from plastic when it comes to recycling!!

This is a picture of the Royal Princess in Liverpool last week.
She is the 13th largest cruise ship in the world, which is quite impressive.

Next weekend in Southampton we shall see Britannia which is,
by a mere few inches and a couple of tons, 12th largest cruise ship in the world!

Queen Mary 2 is in Liverpool Sunday/Monday as part of Cunard's 175th anniversary.
Queen Mary 2 is 9th largest cruise ship in the world.

So now you know!!

Finally, for now, a reminder of the other very important new member of the group!!

There is no charge for love and understanding......

Back in the days of Wilko News, I posted this but I just think that it is about time I posted it again........

A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell. He painted a sign advertising the 4 pups and set about nailing it to a post on the edge of his yard. As he was driving the last nail into the post, he felt a tug on his overalls. He looked down into the eyes of little boy.
"Mister," he said, "I want to buy one of your puppies."
"Well," said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat off the back of his neck, "These puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal of money.”
The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching deep into his pocket, he pulled out a handful of change and held it up to the farmer.
"I've got thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?"
"Sure," said the farmer. And with that he let out a whistle. "Here, Dolly!" he called.
Out from the doghouse and down the ramp ran Dolly followed by four little balls of fur. The little boy pressed his face against the chain link fence. His eyes danced with delight. As the dogs made their way to the fence, the little boy noticed something else stirring inside the doghouse. Slowly another little ball appeared, this one noticeably smaller. Down the ramp it slid. Then in a somewhat awkward manner, the little pup began hobbling toward the others, doing its best to catch up...
"I want that one," the little boy said, pointing to the runt. The farmer knelt down at the boy's side and said, "Son, you don't want that puppy. He will never be able to run and play with you like these other dogs would."
With that the little boy stepped back from the fence, reached down, and began rolling up one leg of his trousers. In doing so he revealed a steel brace running down both sides of his leg attaching itself to a specially made shoe.
Looking back up at the farmer, he said, "You see sir, I don't run too well myself, and he will need someone who understands."
With tears in his eyes, the farmer reached down and picked up the little pup. Holding it carefully he handed it to the little boy. "How much?" asked the little boy. "No charge," answered the farmer, "There's no charge for love."
The world is full of people who need someone who understands.
